Luke HalpinDd Sn, or Dead Snowis a new film from Norway about Nazi zombies that will be in limited release on June 19. When I heard about this intriguing new film, I was
instantly reminded of the cult classic 1977 film, Shock Waves. In Shock Waves, John Carradine, Flipper-star Luke Halpin, and Invasion of the Body Snatchers remake star Brooke Adams and a few assorted
other travelers are on a rickety boat in the Caribbean. After colliding with a mysterious derelict freighter that appears out of nowhere, they find themselves on a broken down boat and stranded near
a mysterious island.Forced to explore the island, they find an abandoned hotel and an old man (Peter Cushing) as an old Nazi with a secret. He was part of a group of scientists who created the
'perfect soldier.' It turns out that these soldiers are a group of invincible Nazi soldier zombieswho can breathe underwater. The first time we see the zombies underwater just walking, it is
unsettling. In the most chilling scene, a traveler is attacked by a zombie while running blindly with terror through the abandoned hotel. This unfortunate soul also is knocked into the nearly empty
pool and fights with, and loses to a zombie. Soon, there are only two travelers left to escape the island and the film will ultimately end with a truly disturbing scene in a hospital.Shock Waves may
seem hokey, but it is chock full of memorable scenes. Luke Halpin and Brooke Adams are likable leads. Peter Cushing and John Carradine are not in the movie that long, but they are always great.
