Melanie Brown Refused To Waive Her Appearance Fee For Helping A Charity

Spice Girl Melanie Brown earned the wrath of many people after she refused to waive her appearance fee for helping a charity.

The singer pocketed 10,000 pounds from a festive fundraiser in aid of terminally ill kids for Make a Wish Foundation at Selfridges in London this week.

But, Mel B, who is expected to earn millions from her Spice Girls reunion world tour, disappointed many by taking money that should have gone to needy kids instead.

"All Mel B did was sing a couple of Christmas songs, sign autographs and mingle with the crowd collecting donations in a plastic bucket,  News of the World quoted an insider, as saying.

"And for that she pocketed 10,000 that should have gone to needy kids. "Many people felt she should have waived her fee. It's the least she could have done to help raise cash for the kids,  the insider added.

Mel B's 10,000 pounds fee was reportedly settled with her US showbiz agents International Creative Management in two payments.

"Everyone was thrilled when Mel B agreed to appear. With the Spice Girls in town for their tour it was a real coup to get her,  another source said.

It's shameful shoppers gave up their hard-earned cash yet here was a Spice Girl giving nothing,  the source added.

However, there was a change of policy from Brown's camp after the news of her greed surfaced.

The singer's British spokeswoman now says that the fee would be donated to kids' hospitals in America. "The cheque's in the post,  the spokeswoman said.
